Google Core Update June 2025

So what happened during the June to mid July 2025 Google core update?

Video transcript below

A couple of months ago, in June, Google rolled out yet another core update. Core updates look at improving the quality of the search results to better match what the user is searching for. This mainly relates to website content to improve the user experience. Why do they do this? This is so we all continue to use Google as we’re presented with websites with useful information matching what we search for.

So, if your current web design company or digital marketing agency has been using AI to assist with a lot of content on your website, we’ve got some bad news for you. I won’t get into the details, as I have in several other vlogs. However, if you or your SEO company has been doing all the correct things when it comes to content generation of your website that will address your expertise, authority, and trustworthiness, and also making use of proper strategic text sequences, you really don’t have anything to worry about. You may have noticed, a dip in rankings during June, but then your rankings should have had a slingshot effect back up.

If you are across the SEO news, you will see most of the industry experts saying, “if your rankings have dropped, you don’t need to do anything.” Which is not correct, because if your rankings have dropped, you really need to take a closer look at your SEO strategy and not just sit around twiddling your thumbs, waiting for things to improve again, which they do say this!

Yes, rankings are very volatile and move around a lot, especially during these updates, but if you don’t see improvement as quickly as the below example, then you really need to check if there were any shortcuts you or your marketing agency may have taken.

What to check if my rankings have dropped after this Google core update?

Some things to look at will be AI-generated content, spammy suburb pages, filler content, as in content created just for the sake of creating content with no real value. This also includes pointless blogs that have been done thousands of times before, and use of improper headings and poor metadata.

At Digital Debut, we take content very seriously. So, if you have a website and want us to take a look, get in touch. If you don’t have a website, still get in touch and we will build one for you. Cheers.

Common questions about the June 2025 Google core update

Google Core Updates is a major update when Google looks at websites more closely for rankings. These updates are done to improve search results so users find the most relevant, high-quality content for what they are searching for. This is so people keep using Google as it is showing the most useful websites first.

If your website’s content is focused on expertise, authority, and trustworthiness, even if you may have seen a temporary ranking dip, these results should have shot back up better than before in most cases. If shortcuts were taken in your SEO strategy, there will be a high chance you have lost rankings until onsite issues are resolved.

While rankings do tend to fluctuate during these updates, if they don’t come back within a couple of weeks, it’s a sign you need to review your SEO strategy.  Do not sit back and hope for the best at the expense of your business!

Review your content for:

  • AI generated conent

  • Spammy and duplicate location pages.

  • Filler content created just to publish something.

  • Poor heading structure or irrelevant headings.

  • Weak or missing metadata.

At Digital Debut, we take a content first approach when core updates are being rolled out. We make sure that each page has original content and serves a purpose. Whether it is a sales page, a service page, or simply a blog, each page needs to be original, providing a positive user experience.
